Art may be seen as an act of excavation below the surface, and of extraction. The materials used in my work – plaster, pumice stone, caulking, chalk, rice paper, colored wax – mutate. Each subject requires a different treatment and multiple new possibilities and innovative methods arise. The materials used provide the incentive to fathom, to reveal a truth.
